Profhilo® is an injectable skin treatment that improves hydration, elasticity, and overall skin quality. Unlike dermal fillers, it does not add volume but instead stimulates collagen and elastin production, leading to firmer, smoother skin.
Dermal fillers are injectable treatments designed to restore lost volume, smooth wrinkles, and enhance facial features. They are typically made from hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the body, or other biocompatible materials like calcium hydroxylapatite. Fillers are commonly used to treat areas such as the cheeks, lips, jawline, and under-eyes, and they provide instant, natural-looking results.

Profhilo® is injected just beneath the skin in a series of small injections. It spreads naturally, stimulating collagen and elastin production for improved hydration and skin firmness over time.
Dermal fillers are strategically injected into specific areas to restore volume, contour, and smooth wrinkles. They provide instant results and can be precisely tailored to enhance facial proportions.
Profhilo® is a unique injectable treatment designed to deeply hydrate and improve skin quality by stimulating collagen and elastin production. It spreads evenly under the skin, improving texture, elasticity, and hydration.
Dermal fillers, on the other hand, are used to restore lost volume and enhance facial contours. Made from hyaluronic acid, they provide targeted lifting and definition to areas such as the cheeks, lips, jawline, and under-eyes.
Yes, Profhilo® and dermal fillers can complement each other. Profhilo® improves skin quality, while dermal fillers restore volume and structure. Many patients opt for a combination treatment to achieve the best results.
If your main concern is skin laxity, fine lines, or dehydration, Profhilo® is an excellent choice for improving overall skin quality. If you want to restore lost volume or enhance specific facial features, dermal fillers may be more suitable. In some cases, combining both treatments can provide optimal results. A consultation with our Cosmetic Doctor will help determine the best approach for your needs.
Both treatments involve minimal discomfort. Profhilo® injections are quick and use a fine needle, with only mild stinging. Dermal fillers contain anaesthetic, making the procedure more comfortable. Numbing cream can also be applied if needed.
Profhilo® results develop gradually, with optimal effects visible around 4–6 weeks after the second session. Results typically last up to 6 months.
Dermal filler results are immediate, with longevity depending on the treatment area and product used. Fillers can last anywhere from 6 to 18 months before a top-up is needed.
Both treatments involve minimal downtime. Some swelling, redness, or mild bruising may occur, but this usually subsides within a few days. You can resume most activities immediately, though strenuous exercise and alcohol should be avoided for 24 hours.
Yes, both Profhilo® and dermal fillers are FDA-approved and CE-marked for safety. When administered by a qualified medical professional, the risk of complications is low. Our clinic follows strict hygiene and safety protocols to ensure the highest standard of care.
Both Profhilo® and dermal fillers are generally well-tolerated, with minimal side effects. You may experience mild redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection sites, which typically subsides within a few days. In rare cases, lumps, infection, or allergic reactions can occur. Choosing a qualified medical professional minimises risks and ensures safe treatment.

When administered by a qualified professional, both Anti-Wrinkle Injections and dermal fillers are considered safe for long-term use. However, there is ongoing scientific research into the cumulative effects of repeated treatments.
If you're considering long-term use of Anti-Wrinkle Injections or fillers, it's essential to consult with a practitioner who understands facial anatomy and can create a personalised treatment plan to avoid overuse or unnatural results. At VL Aesthetics in Carlisle, our expert team prioritises your safety and ensures every treatment is tailored to your needs. Book your consultation today to discuss a customised plan for long-term care and natural results.
Profhilo® is typically administered in two sessions, spaced four weeks apart. A maintenance session every six months helps prolong results.
Dermal fillers depend on the area treated and desired outcome. Some patients achieve their goals in a single session, while others benefit from gradual enhancements over multiple treatments.
Most adults looking to improve skin hydration, elasticity, or volume loss are good candidates. A consultation is required to assess your suitability based on your medical history and aesthetic goals.
Before treatment: Avoid alcohol, anti-inflammatory medications, and supplements like fish oil for 24–48 hours to reduce the risk of bruising.
After treatment: Avoid touching the treated area, excessive heat (saunas, hot baths), and intense exercise for 24 hours. Stay hydrated and follow aftercare advice provided by your practitioner.
There is no specific age at which you should start the treatments – All people age differently and feel differently about how they look. In general, we find that people start the treatments for the following reasons:
20s – To prevent wrinkles and fine lines from occurring.
30s – To prolong the youthful look as wrinkles and fine lines start to appear.
40s – To tackle wrinkles and fine lines before they are deeply imprinted.
50+ – To improve the appearance of deeper wrinkles and fine lines.
