Thread Lifts

Aptos is a revolutionary thread lifting method that has won several prestigious awards (including 'Best Tightening Thread' at the Anti-Ageing Medicine (AMEC) awards in Paris).

Unlike conventional PDO (polydioxanone) threads, Aptos are made from polylactic acid, caprolactone, and hyaluronic acid - P(LACL)HA. This unique formula has several important advantages over PDO threads, including:

• Aptos last much longer - they are the longest lasting threads on the market, dissolving in 1.5-2 years.
• Although all threads can produce various quantities of 'mature' collagen type 1, Aptos also produce 'young' collagen type 3 (which gives the skin its softness and suppleness) and elastin (which provides elasticity and keeps the skin tight over time).
• Due to their healing and anti-inflammatory properties, Aptos threads speed up recovery and provide the lowest downtime.

Thread lifts are very safe if administered correctly by a medical professional – Dr. Awfa is an expert Aesthetic Practitioner, with almost a decade of experience behind hims.

However, although thread lifts are very safe, they may not be suitable for people with certain medical conditions or for pregnant / breastfeeding women.

We carry out a full medical assessment before starting your treatment, so if you are not a suitable candidate, we will find out before your treatment begins.

The treatment itself is relatively painless. However, the most common side effects are tenderness and mild bruising around the treated areas.

The treatment can take between 20-60 minutes, depending on the number of threads you require.

There is usually very little downtime with Aptos - Most patients are able to resume work the same day after the procedure.

For patients who require several threads, there can be more discomfort and a short recovery time.

In the first 24 hours post-procedure, please try to adhere to the following guidelines:

• Clean your face with a gentle cleanser and warm water.
• Try not to wear makeup.
• Use creams with antioxidants and hyaluronic acid to reduce irritation and hydrate the skin.
• Avoid active skincare products which contain: Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Beta Hydroxy Acids, Retinol (Vitamin A), and Vitamin C (in low pH formula). Continue to do so for 3 days post treatment.
• Do not drink excessive alcohol.
• Don’t go swimming or to saunas.
• Avoid strenuous exercise.
• Avoid direct sunlight. If you absolutely must be outside, be cautious and wear a shaded hat.
• Try to avoid lying face down.
• Don’t take Ibuprofen and continue not to for two weeks after the treatment.
