The effects of waxing can last between 2 to 6 weeks, but this depends on the rate of your hair growth and on how regularly you wax.
Warm wax is applied to your skin in a thin layer. Your hairs become embedded in the wax and a special strip is placed on top. The strip is then quickly pulled off, in the opposite direction of the hair growth, taking the hair with it.
Before your waxing appointment, we would recommend that you:
- Grow your hairs to a 1/4 of an inch long so that the wax can remove them effectively.
- Exfoliate the area to be waxed 24 hours before your treatment.
- Don’t apply any moisturiser to the area on the day of your appointment.
- Wear suitable underwear for a bikini wax.
Please note that if you have shaved or used cream hair remover you will need to wait for about two weeks before you can have a waxing treatment.
After your waxing appointment, we would recommend that you:
- Avoid hot showers, baths, swimming pools, Jacuzzi, saunas, and sunbeds for at least 24 hours.
- Gently exfoliate the waxed area 3 days after the treatment, and continue to do so until your next appointment.
- Try to use only light moisturisers as rich moisturisers can block your pores and cause ingrown hairs.
- Avoid friction, tight clothing, and perfumed products on the treatment area.
We would recommend that you avoid waxing if:
- You are using either Retin A (Tretinoin) or Roaccutane (Isotretinoin) at the time of your appointment or in the last 6 months.
- You are very sensitive to heat treatments.
- You have been exposed to a lot of sun or went on a sunbed 24 hours prior to your appointment.
- Your immune system is extremely low.
- You are on your period (as your pain threshold can be lower).
