Relax, de-stress, and re-energise with a bespoke Stress Therapy Massage…

About Stress Therapy Massage

Stress relief is one of the most important benefits of massage. Clinical studies have shown that even a single 1.5 hour massage can significantly lower your cortisol levels (a key factor underlying stress). In fact, massage therapy can help with nearly every symptom of stress – Research has shown that it can reduce your heart rate, lower your blood pressure, and increase the production of endorphins and serotonin (your body’s ‘feel good’ chemicals). In line with this, we offer a Stress Therapy Massage that not only creates a positive physical change, but leaves a feeling of calm relaxation, helping you to overcome chronic or short-term stress.

A bespoke massage at VL Aesthetics is a massage that is tailored to your specific needs, and is especially effective over time.

For example, one of our recent clients, Richard, was a taxi driver. Due to the nature of his job he carried a lot of tension in his shoulders which was causing him a lot of pain.

When Richard came to see us we asked him to fill in a questionnaire, and after evaluating his condition, we decided that a Deep Tissue Massage was most appropriate for him.

Richard’s first Deep Tissue Massage focused on his shoulders as the primary area of concern, and after the 30 minute treatment the pain in his shoulders was reduced.

However, to remove the pain completely, we recommended for Richard to have a course of 4 massages within the next 6 weeks, followed by a maintenance programme of 1 massage per month.

Now that Richard’s pain is gone, he comes in regularly for a Full Body Massage so as to prevent the accumulation of stress in his body caused by prolonged driving.

During Hot Stone Therapy, hot basal stones are placed on specific points of your body, such as along your spine, on your legs, and on your palms. The heat of the stones relaxes your muscles, allowing our massage therapist to access deeper lying muscles.

The placement of the stones, and the subsequent massage techniques, are customised to your specific needs.

Besides calming and relaxing you, Hot Stone Therapy has many therapeutic benefits, including removing aches and pains, reducing stress, improving your metabolism, and increasing circulation.

When asked to name a type of massage, the Swedish Massage will be high up on your list. This popular treatment is known for its therapeutic benefits, including reducing stress, alleviating aches and pains, and boosting mood.

Using light to medium pressure, your muscles are massaged with long gliding strokes in the opposite direction to blood flow. Other techniques, such as circular pressure, firm squeezing, tapping, and stretching, are applied according to your personal requirements.

The Swedish Massage helps to relax your body, and helps your body in many ways - It increases the level of oxygen in the blood, removes toxins, reduces cortisol levels, improves circulation, and enhances the immune system.

Deep Tissue Massage is a type of Massage Therapy that can be used to treat chronic and acute aches and pains. For example, the massage can help with a stiff neck and upper back, chronic lower back pain, recovery from injury, postural problems, limited mobility, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.

The main aim of Deep Tissue Massage is to reduce pain and discomfort, while improving your body’s ability to heal itself. Deeper lying muscles and connective tissues are reached via firm pressure and slow strokes. Depending on your area of concern, our massage therapist will tailor each massage to target that specific problem.

Sports Massage is designed for athletes of all types – from weekend joggers to regular rugby players. It can be used as a way to enhance pre-event preparation, or to reduce recovery time after strenuous exercise.

Sports Massage focuses on areas of your body that are stressed from repetitive and aggressive movements. Depending on your specific requirements, such as particular areas of pain or discomfort, our massage therapist will customise the techniques she uses.

This personalised approach will help to increase flexibility, reduce fatigue, improve endurance, prevent injuries, and prepare you for optimal performance.

Indian Head Massage (or ‘Champi’ in Hindi) has been used for over 1000 years to help relieve stress, alleviate headaches, and remove tension in the shoulder and neck area. The massage is incredibly relaxing, and helps to focus and clear your mind.

A typical Indian Head Massage will begin with your shoulders and move onto your scalp, using a combination of squeezing, tapping, rubbing, and prodding motions. Your face will then be massaged to help relieve sinus pressure, increase alertness, and stimulate circulation.

The Indian Head Massage has several important benefits, including: Increasing joint mobility in the neck and shoulders; improving blood circulation and lymphatic flow; freeing muscle knots; relaxing connective tissue; and removing toxins.
