Ageing, childbirth, menopause, and changes in weight can contribute to the weakening of the pelvic floor muscles. A weak pelvic floor may not be able to adequately support the pelvic organs, resulting in a loss of bladder control.

Emsella® utilizes High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM) technology to stimulate the pelvic floor muscles and create thousands of supramaximal contractions per session (one 30min Emsella® treatment is equivalent to roughly 12,000 Kegels). During the procedure, you will be asked to sit (fully clothed) on a specially designed chair. You can read a book or a magazine while the electromagnetic energy stimulates your pelvic floor muscles, creating mild contractions and modest tingling.

After 30 minutes, the session is complete, and you can return to your daily activities with no restrictions and no downtime.

Most patients report little to no discomfort during Emsella® treatments – Although there are mild contractions throughout the session, it is an easy procedure to sit through.

There are generally no side effects with Emsella®. You may experience some mild soreness the next day, but this will not interfere with your activities.

You may see an improvement after the first session, depending on the severity of your condition. For most patients, 6 sessions (2 x 30min treatments per week) are required for optimal results.
